The Holy Eucharist. The Mass. The Lord’s Supper. Holy Communion

The Asperges

Thou shalt sprinkle me,

Lord, with hyssop and I shall be cleansed; thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow. Have mercy on me, O. God, according to thy great mercy.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Thou shalt sprinkle me, Lord, with hyssop and I shall be cleansed; thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow
Show us, Lord, Your mercy. (Alleluia)
And grant us Your salvation. (Alleluia)

O Lord, hear my prayer.
And let my cry come unto You.

Hear us Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God; and graciously send Your Holy Angel from heaven to watch over, to cherish, to protect, to abide with, and to defend all who dwell in this house. Through Christ our Lord. AMEN

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
C. Amen

I will go to the altar of God.
To God, the joy of my youth

Do me justice, O God, and fight my fight against an unholy people, rescue me from the wicked and deceitful.

For Thou, O God, art my strength, why hast Thou forsaken me? And why do I go about in sadness, while the enemy harasses me?

Send forth Thy light and thy truth: for they have led me and brought me to thy holy hill and Thy dwelling place.

And I will go to the altar of god, to God, the joy of my youth.

I shall yet praise Thee upon the harp, O God, my God. Why art thou sad, my soul, and why art thou downcast?

Trust in God, for I shall yet praise Him, my Saviour, and my God.

In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female

For all are one in Christ Jesus.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

I will go to the altar of God.

To God, the joy of my youth.

 OR

Let us now lay the foundation of our Temple.

Christ is our foundation, and our chief cornerstone.

We are no more strangers and foreigners: but fellow-citizens with the saints and of the household of God.

In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for all are one.

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets: Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone.

In whom all the building fitly framed together growth unto a holy temple in the Lord;

In whom ye also are builded together; for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Except the Lord build the house: their labour is bit lost that build it.

The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal; let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Christ is our foundation, and our chief cornerstone.

 OR

Today I shield myself with threefold power,

Invocation of the Trinity,

Belief in the threeness, profession of the oneness,

In union with the Creator.

Today I shield myself with the power of Christ's baptism,

His hanging and burial,

His rising again and his ascension, his descent for the last judgement.

Today I shield myself with the loving power of the Cherubim,

Obedience of angels, service of archangels,

Hope of rising to my reward, prayer of the patriarchs,

Today I shield myself with the power of heaven,

Light of the sun.

Speed of lightening, swiftness of wind,

Depths of sea, firmness of earth, hardness of rock.

Today I shield myself with God's power to direct me,

God's strength to uphold me.

God's good sense to guide me,

God's ear to listen for me,

God's speaking to speak for me,

God's hand to guide me,

God's path opening before me,

God's shield to protect me,

From the snares of demons,

The inducements of my own vices,

The proclivities of human nature,

And those who wish me evil.

I summon those powers to come

Between me and every cruel and merciless power

that threatens my body and my soul.

Christ me my protection today

Against violence,

Against illness

Against drowning,

Against mortal wounding,

So that I may come to my ultimate reward.

Christ be with me,

Christ be before me,

Christ be behind me,

Christ be inside me,

Christ be beneath me,

Christ be above me,

Christ on my right hand,

Christ on my left hand,

Christ when I lie down,

Christ when I sit down,

Christ when I rise up,

Christ all around me.

Christ in the heart of everyone who beholds me;

Christ in every eye that sees me;

And Christ in every ear that hears me.

Today I shield myself with threefold power,

Invocation of the Trinity,

Belief in the threeness, profession of the oneness,

In union with the Creator.

The Lord is salvation;

Christ is salvation.

The Lord is salvation;

May your salvation, O Lord, be always with us.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, the triple and single light of the one Godhead, that exists singly in Trinity and is divided without division. For the one God is Trinity, whose glory the heavens declare, while earth proclaims his dominion, the sea his might and every physical and immaterial creature his greatness. For to him belongs all glory, honour, might, greatness and magnificence, now and for ever, and to the ages of ages.

Amen.

Benefactor and King of the ages, and Fashioner of all creation, accept your Church, which approaches you through your Christ. Fulfil what is profitable for each, bring all to perfection, and make us worthy of the grace of your sanctification, gathering us together in your Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which you gained by the blood of your only-begotten Son, our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, with whom you are blessed and glorified, together with your all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and forever, and to the ages of ages. AMEN

Confiteor

O Lord, Thou hast created us to be immortal and made us to be an image of Thine own eternity; yet often we forget the glory of our heritage and wander from the path which leads to righteousness. But Thou, O Lord, hast made us for Thyself and our hearts are ever restless till they find their rest in Thee. Look with the eyes of Thy love upon our manifold imperfections and pardon all our shortcomings, that we may be filled with the brightness of the everlasting light and become the unspotted mirror of Thy power and the image of Thy goodness; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

OR:

ALMIGHTY God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, the Judge of all; We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, Which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, By thought, word, and deed, Against thy Divine Majesty, Provoking most justly thy wrath and indignation against us.  We do earnestly repent, And are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; The remembrance of them is grievous unto us; The burden of them is intolerable.  Have mercy upon us, Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; For thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, Forgive us all that is past; And grant that we may ever hereafter Serve and please thee In newness of life, To the honour and glory of thy Name; Through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

OR:

 Most Holy God, None is worthy among those that are bound with carnal desires and pleasures to approach or draw nigh to thee, 0 King of glory, for to serve thee is a great and fearful thing even unto the heavenly Powers. Nevertheless, through thine ineffable and immeasurable love, without change or alteration, thou didst become as one of us and didst take the name of our High Priest, and delivered unto us this liturgical and bloodless sacrifice, for thou art Master of all. Thou alone, 0 Lord our God, art Master over those in heaven and on earth, Who on the throne of the Cherubim art borne, Who art Lord of the Seraphim and King of Israel, Who alone art holy and restest in the Saints. We implore thee, therefore, who alone art good and ready to listen, look down upon us  sinners,  thine unprofitable servants, and purify our souls and hearts from an evil conscience, and by the power of thy Holy Spirit, enable us to stand before this thy holy table and receive thy holy, immaculate Body and precious Blood. For thee do we approach, and bowing our necks we pray thee, turn not away thy face from us, neither cast us out from among thy children, but make us, thy sinful and unworthy servants, worthy to offer unto thee our worship, 0 Christ our God, for unto thee do we send up glory, together with thy Father, who is without beginning, and thine all-holy, and good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

0R:

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

OR:

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, who confess their faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesu our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

OR

Father eternal, giver of light and grace,

We have sinned against you and against our neighbour,

In what we have thought,

In what we have said and done,

Through ignorance, through weakness,

Through our own deliberate fault.

We have wounded your love

And marred your image in us.

We are sorry and ashamed

And repent of all our sins.

For the sake of your son Jesus Christ,

Who died for us, forgive us all that is past

And lead us out from darkness

To walk as children of light.

AMEN

Absolution

God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, bless, preserve and sanctify you; the Lord in His loving kindness look down upon you and be gracious unto you; the Lord    absolve you from all your sins and grant you the grace and comfort of the Holy Spirit.
C. Amen

OR

Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Who desireth not the death of a sinner,

But rather that he may turn from his wickedness and live;

And hath given power and commandment, to his ministers

To declare and pronounce to his people, being penitent,

The absolution and remission of their sins;

He pardoneth and absolveth all them that truly repent and unfeignedly believe

his holy gospel.

Wherefore let us beseech him to grant us true repentance,

And his Holy Spirit,

That those things may please him which we do at this present;

And that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy;

So that at the last we may come to his eternal joy;

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

AMEN

The Censing

May thou be  blessed by Him in whose honour thou shalt be burned.

You can light some incense if you wish.

The Prayer of the Trisagion

Compassionate and merciful, long-suffering, most merciful and true Lord, look down from your holy dwelling-place, hearken to us, your, suppliants, and deliver us from every trial and temptation, both diabolic and human. Do not deprive us of your help, nor bring upon us heavier chastisement than we are able to bear. For we are not capable of conquering what opposes us, while you, Lord, have power to save us from all adversities. Save us, O God, from the difficulties of this world in accordance with your goodness, so that, having entered your holy altar with a pure conscience, we may, without condemnation, offer you with the heavenly Powers the blessed and thrice-holy hymn, and have accomplished the divine ministry that is well-pleasing to you, we may be found worthy of eternal life.
For holy are you, Lord our God, and you dwell and take your rest in the holy place, and to you we offer glory and the thrice-holy hymn, to Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and for ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Holy God, holy Strong, holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Holy God, holy Strong, holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Holy God, holy Strong, holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Both now and for ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Dynamis.

Holy God, holy Strong, holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Gloria in Excelsis

Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth. Lord God, Heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world. Have mercy on us. You are seated at the right hand of the Father, receive our prayer. For you alone are the holy one, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the most high, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of the Father. Amen.

Teach us, O Lord, to see thy life in all the peoples and creatures of  thine earth and in all that thou hast made, and so guide the nations into the understanding of thy laws that peace and goodwill may reign upon earth; through Christ our Lord.
C. Amen

O Lord our God, whose might is incomparable, whose glory is incomprehensible, whose mercy is infinite, and whose love of thy creation is ineffable, do thou thyself, 0 Master, in thy tender heartedness look down upon us and grant us and those who pray with us thy rich mercies and compassion,  For to thee belong all glory, honour and worship, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.

Amen.

The Epistle

The Gradual

Those that loveth wisdom loveth life:

and they that seek her early shall be filled with joy.

Teach me, O Lord, the way of Thy statutes:

and I shall keep it unto the end.

Give me understanding, and I shall keep Thy law:

yea, I shall keep it with my whole heart.

The path of the just is as the shining light:

shining more and more unto the perfect day.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of mercy. Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope, to thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then thou most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile. Show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mother.

The Gospel

You have made your divine and saving words resound for us, O God, enlighten the souls of us sinners to understand the things that have been read, so that we may be seen to be not only hearers of the spiritual songs, but also doers of good deeds, maintaining a faith without pretence, a life without blame, conduct without reproach,
In Christ Jesus our Lord, with whom you are blessed and glorified, together with your all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and for ever, and to the ages of ages.
Amen.

Credo

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God,  born of the Father before all ages; God of God, light of light; true God of true God; begotten, not made; consubstantial to the Father, by whom all things were made. Who for us, and for our salvation, came down from heaven; (HERE KNEEL IN REVERENCE FOR OUR LORD'S INCARNATION) and became incarnate by the Holy Ghost, of the Virgin Mary; AND WAS MADE HUMAN. He was crucified also for us, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried. And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, He sitteth at the right hand of the Father; and He is to come again with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; of whose kingdom there shall be no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and giver of life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who together with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified; who spoke by the Prophets.  I believe in one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I expect the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Salutation of Peace

O Lord Jesus Christ, who didst say to Thine apostles: 'Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you,' regard not our weakness, but the faith of Thy Church, and grant her that peace and unity which are agreeable to Thy holy will and commandment

Amen

Offertorium

From the rising up of the sun even unto the going down of the same the Lord's Name shall be magnified; and in every place incense shall be offered unto His Name and a pure offering. There shall be heard in this place the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord.

We adore Thee, O God, who art the source of all life and goodness, and with true and thankful hearts we offer unto Thee ourselves. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

OR

The noble Joseph, taking down thine immaculate Body from the Tree, wrapped it in clean linen with spices, and mourning, placed it in a new tomb.  In the grave bodily, but in Hell with the soul as God, in Paradise with the thief, and on the throne wast thou, 0 Christ, with the Father and the Spirit, filling all things, thyself uncircumscribed. As life-bearing, as more beautiful than Paradise, and truly brighter than any kingly chamber is shown forth thy grave, 0 Christ, the fountain of our resurrection. One of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and at once, there came out blood and water. He who saw it bore witness, and his witness is true.

 The Second Censing

May the Lord, by the intercession of blessed Michael the archangel, standing at the right hand of the Altar of Incense, and of all his elect vouchsafe to bless   this incense, and receive it as an odour of sweetness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Incense can be lit.

As this incense rises before Thee, O Lord, so let our prayer be set forth in Thy sight. Let Thy holy Angels encompass Thy people and breathe forth upon them the spirit of Thy blessing.

The noble Joseph, taking down thine immaculate Body from the Tree, wrapped it in clean linen with spices, and mourning, placed it in a new tomb.

May the Lord enkindle within us the fire of His love and the flame of everlasting charity.

Lavabo

I will wash my hands in innocency, O Lord: and so will I go to Thine altar.

That I may show the voice of thanksgiving: and tell of all Thy wondrous works.

Lord, I have loved the habitation of Thy house: and the place where Thine honour dwelleth.

My foot standeth right: I will praise the Lord in the congregations.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be: world without end.

Amen

            Let all mortal flesh keep silence,

            and with fear and trembling stand;

            ponder nothing earthly-minded,

            for with blessing in his hand,

            Christ our God to earth descendeth,

            our full homage to demand.

2.         King of kings, yet born of Mary,

            as of old on earth he stood,

            Lord of lords, in human vesture,

            in the body and the blood;

            he will give to all the faithful

            his own self for heavenly food.

3.         Rank on rank the host of heaven

            spreads its vanguard on the way,

            as the Light of light descendeth

            from the realms of endless day,

            that the powers of hell may vanish

            as the darkness clears away.

4.         At his feet the six-winged seraph,

            cherubim, with sleepless eye,

            veil their faces to the presence,

            as with ceaseless voice they cry:

            Alleluia, Alleluia,

            Alleluia, Lord Most High!

Sursum Corda

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up unto the Lord

Let us give thanks unto our Lord God

It is meet and right so to do.

Preface

It is proper and right to sing to You, bless You, praise You, thank You and worship You in all places of Your dominion; for You are God ineffable, beyond comprehension, invisible, beyond understanding, existing forever and always the same; You and Your only begotten Son and Your Holy Spirit. You brought us into being out of nothing, and when we fell, You raised us up again. You did not cease doing everything until You led us to heaven and granted us Your kingdom to come. For all these things we thank You and Your only begotten Son and Your Holy Spirit; for all things that we know and do not know, for blessings seen and unseen that have been bestowed upon us. We also thank You for this liturgy which You are pleased to accept from our hands, even though You are surrounded by thousands of Archangels and tens of thousands of Angels, by the Cherubim and Seraphim, six-winged, many-eyed, soaring with their wings, singing the victory hymn, proclaiming, crying out, and saying:

OR

Father, all powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

You, with your only-begotten Son and the Holy Spirit are God.

You are God, one immortal;

You are God, incorruptible and unmoving;

You are God, invisible and faithful;

You are God, wonderful and worthy of praise;

You are God, most high and magnificent;

You are God, living and true;

You are God, wise and powerful;

You are God, holy and splendid;

You are God, great and good;

You are God, beautiful and righteous;

You are God, pure and kind;

You are God, blessed and just;

You are God, tender and holy;

You are God, not in the singularity of one person, but in the Trinity of substance.

We believe you;

We bless you;

We adore you;

And praise your name for evermore.

We praise you through Christ who is the salvation of the universe;

through Christ who is the life of human beings;

through Christ who is the resurrection of the dead.

Through him the angels praise your majesty;

the dominations adore;

the powers of the heaven of heavens tremble;

the virtues and the blessed seraphim

concelebrate in exultation;

so grant we pray you,

that our voices may be admitted to that of the chorus,

in humble declaration of your glory,

as we say/sing:

OR

O thou who art, Master, Lord God, Father Almighty adorable, it is truly meet and right, and befitting the magnificence of thy holiness that we should praise thee, hymn thee, bless thee, worship thee, give thanks unto thee and glorify thee, the only truly existing God, and offer unto thee with a broken heart and the spirit of humility this our rational worship, for thou art He that hath bestowed upon us the knowledge of thy truth. And who is sufficient to speak of thy mighty acts, to make all thy praises to be heard, or to declare all thy wonders at every time? 0 Master of all, Lord of heaven and earth, and of all creation both visible and invisible, who sittest upon the throne of glory, and lookest upon the depths, who art without beginning, invisible, incomprehensible, uncircumscript, immutable, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our great God and Savior, our hope, who is the image of thy goodness, the seal of equal type, in Himself showing forth thee, the Father, Living Word, true God, the Wisdom before the ages, the Life, Sanctification, Power, the true Light, through whom the Holy Spirit was revealed, the Spirit of truth, the Gift of adoption, the Pledge of an inheritance to come, the First-fruits of eternal good things, the life-creating Power, the Fountain of sanctification, by whom enabled, every rational and intelligent creature doth worship thee, and send up to thee everlasting doxology, for all things are thy servants. Yea, Angels and Archangels, Thrones, Dominions, Principalities, Authorities, Powers, and the many-eyed Cherubim praise thee. Round about thee stand the Seraphim, one with six wings and another with six wings, and with twain they cover their faces, and with twain their feet, and with twain they fly, calling out to one another with unceasing voices and unending doxologies:

Singing the hymn of victory, crying, calling, and saying:

OR

Almighty God, good father to us all,

Your face is turned towards your world.

In love you gave us Jesus your Son

To rescue us from sin and death.

Your Word goes out to call us home

To the city where angels sing your praise.

We join with them in heaven’s song.

Sanctus

Holy, holy, holy Lord God of Hosts. Heaven and earth are full of Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest.  Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

The Canon of the Mass

O Lord, these our oblations have served as tokens and channels of our love and devotion towards thee; but now we  break the link with us and with all lower things and we pray thee to    purify and to  hallow them as earthly channels of thy grace.

We desire to offer this holy Sacrifice first for Thy holy catholic Church; that it may please Thee to grant her peace, to watch over her, to bring her to unity and to guide her throughout the world; likewise that it may please Thee to bless and keep all Thy people, to give them increase of grace to bring forth the fruits of the spirit, to guide all nations into unity, peace and concord, and to endue their rulers with wisdom and understanding. Especially do we pray for our State Leaders and all that are put in authority under them, our Church leaders , clergy and faithful, and for all here present, whose faith and devotion are known unto Thee. We do also call to mind all who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity (especially .). Likewise do we offer it for all those Thy children whom it hath pleased Thee to deliver from the burden of the flesh (especially for .), that, freed from earthly toil and care, they may enjoy the felicity of Thy Presence, evermore praising Thee in word and deed, O God everlasting, living, and true.

In this joyful Sacrifice, we are uniting with Thy holy Church throughout the ages. We lift our hearts in adoration to Thee, O God the Son, who art consubstantial and coeternal with the Father. In the mystery of Thy boundless love, Thou didst send forth Thine own divine life into the universe, yet Thou art unchangeable and ever abiding within Thyself.

Through Thine eternal Sacrifice, Thou dost continually uphold all creation, dying in very truth that we may live. Thus didst Thou offer Thyself as the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Thou, O Holy Lord, in Thine ineffable wisdom, ordained for us this Blessed Sacrament of Thy love, that through it we may not only commemorate in symbol Thine eternal Oblation, but verily take part in it; that within the limitations of time and space, we may perpetuate Thine enduring Sacrifice by which the world is nourished and sustained.

Wherefore, O holy Lord, Father Almighty, we pray Thee to look down on and accept these offerings, which we Thy servants and Thy whole household do make unto Thee, in obedience to the command of Thy most blessed Son, our Lord Jesus Christ;

Which offerings do Thou, O Father, deign with Thy Holy Spirit and Word to   bless,   approve and    ratify, that they may become for us His most precious  Body and   Blood.

Who the day before He suffered took bread into His holy and venerable hands, and with His eyes lifted up to heaven unto Thee, God, His Almighty Father, giving thanks to Thee, He blessed, brake and gave it to His disciples, saying: Take and eat ye all of this, for

THIS IS MY BODY.

In like manner, after He had supped, taking also this noble chalice into His holy and venerable hands, again giving thanks to Thee, He blessed it and gave it to His disciples, saying: Take and drink ye all of this, for

THIS IS MY BLOOD.

As oft as ye shall do these things, ye shall do them in remembrance of Me.

After some moments of silent adoration, the following verse shall be sung very softly, all devoutly kneeling:

C. Thee we adore, O hidden Splendour, Thee,

Who in Thy Sacrament dost deign to be;

We worship Thee beneath this earthly veil,

And here Thy Presence we devoutly hail.

OR:

With these blessed Powers, 0 Master, Lover of all, we sinners also do cry out and say, Holy art thou, in truth, and all-holy, and there is no measure to the magnificence of thy holiness, and holy art thou in all thy works, for in righteousness and true judgment hast thou brought about all things for us. When thou hadst fashioned us, taking dust from the earth, and hadst honored us with thine own image, 0 God, thou 'didst set us in a paradise of plenty, promising us life immortal and the enjoyment of eternal good things in the observance of thy commandnients. But when we disobeyed thee, the true God, who had created us, and were led astray by the deceit of the serpent, and were slain by our own trespasses, thou didst banish us, in thy righteous judgment, 0 God, from Paradise into this world, and didst turn us back to the earth from which we were taken, dispensing salvation for us through regeneration, which is in thy Christ Himself. Yet thou didst not turn thyself away till the end from us thy creatures which thou hadst made, 0 Good One, neither didst thou forget the work of thy hands, but thou didst look upon us in divers manners, through thy tenderhearted mercy. Thou didst send forth prophets; thou hast wrought mighty works through the saints who in every generation have been well-pleasing unto thee; thou didst speak to us by the mouths of thy servants the prophets, who foretold to us the salvation which was to come; thou didst give the Law as an help; thou didst appoint guardian angels. And when the fulness of time was come, thou didst speak unto us through thy Son Himself, by whom also thou madest the ages; Who, being the brightness of thy glory, and the express image of thy person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, deemed it not robbery to be equal to thee, the God and Father. But albeit He was God before the ages, yet He appeared upon earth and sojourned among us; and was incarnate of a holy Virgin, and did ' empty Himself, taking on the form of a servant, and becoming conformed to the body of our humility, that He might make us conformed to the image of His glory. For as by humanity sin entered the world, and by sin death, so thine Only-begotten Son, Who is in thy bosom, God and Father, was well-pleased to be born of a woman, the holy Theotokos and Ever-virgin Mary, to be born under the Law, that He might condemn sin in His flesh, that they who were dead in Adam might be made alive in thy Christ Himself, and, becoming a citizen in this world, and giving ordinances of salvation, He removed from us the delusion of idols and brought us unto a knowledge of thee, the true God and Father, having won us unto Himself for His own people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and being purified with water, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit, He gave Himself a ransom to Death, whereby we were held, sold under sin. And having descended into hell through the Cross, that He might fill all things with Himself, He loosed the pains of death, and rose again from the dead on the third day, making a way for all flesh unto the resurrection from the dead - for it was not possible that the Author of life should be holden of corruption - that He might be the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep, the first-born from the dead, that He might be all, being first in all. And, ascending into heaven, He sat down at the right hand of thy majesty on high, and He shall return to render unto everyone according to his works. And He hath left with us as remembrances of His saving Passion these Things which we have set forth according to His commandment. For when He was about to go forth to His voluntary, and celebrated, and life-creating death, in the night in which He gave Himself up for the life of the world, He took bread in His holy and immaculate hands, and when He had shown it unto thee, the God and Father, and given thanks, and blessed it, and hallowed it, and broken it
    He gave it to His holy disciples and apostles, saying, Take, eat, this is my Body, which is broken for you for the forgiveness of sins.
    Likewise, having also taken the cup of the fruit of the vine, and mingled it, and given thanks, and blessed and hallowed it,
    He gave it to His holy disciples and apostles, saying, Drink ye all of this; this is my Blood of the New Testament, which is shed for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.

    Do this in remembrance of me, for as often as ye shall eat this Bread and drink of this Cup, ye do proclaim my death and confess my resurrection.

    Wherefore, 0 Master, we also remembering His saving Passion and life-creating Cross, His three-day burial, and resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, and sitting down at thy right hand, God and Father, and His glorious and fearful second coming,

    Thine own of thine own we offer unto thee on behalf of all and for all.

    We hymn thee, we bless thee, we give thanks unto thee, O Lord, and we pray unto thee, 0 our God.

    Because of this, O all-holy Master, we also, thy sinful and unworthy servants, whom thou hast made worthy to minister at thy holy Altar, not through our own righteousness, for we have done nothing good upon the earth, but because of thy mercies and compassion, which thou hast richly poured out upon us, dare to draw nigh to thy holy Altar, and, presenting unto thee the antitypes of the holy Body and Blood of thy Christ, we pray thee and call upon thee, 0 Holy of Holies, by the favor of thy goodness, that thy Holy Spirit may come upon us and upon these Gifts here set forth, and bless them and hallow them, and show.
    This Bread to be itself the precious Body of our Lord, and God, and Savior, Jesus Christ.
    And this Cup to be itself the precious Blood of our Lord, and God, and Savior, Jesus Christ. Shed for the life of the world.
Changing them by thy Holy Spirit.

 Amen. Amen. Amen.

After a short pause

Adeste Fideles

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.

Come and behold Him, Monarch of the Angels;

O come, let us adore Him; O come, let us adore Him;

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, thronèd on Thine altar;

Ever to Thee be highest glory given.

Word of the Father, Splendour everlasting;

O come, let us adore Him; O come, let us adore Him;

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

The people again kneel.

Wherefore, O Lord and heavenly Father, we Thy humble servants, bearing in mind the ineffable sacrifice of Thy Son, the mystery of His wondrous incarnation, His blessed passion, His mighty resurrection, and His triumphant ascension, do here make before Thy Divine Majesty the memorial which our Lord hath willed us to make, and we do offer unto Thee this, the most precious gift which Thou hast bestowed upon us: this pure     Host, this holy    Host, this glorious    Host, the holy    Bread of life everlasting, and the    Chalice of eternal salvation.

This do we present before Thee in token of our love and of the perfect devotion and sacrifice of our minds and hearts to Thee; and we pray that Thou wouldst command Thy holy Angel to bear our oblation to Thine altar on high, there to be offered by Him who, as the eternal High Priest, for ever offers Himself as the eternal Sacrifice.

We pray Thee to sanctify Thy people here present with these Thy heavenly gifts, and through these mysteries do Thou    hallow,   quicken and    bless them, that both in their hearts and in their lives they may show forth Thy praise and glorify Thy holy Name.

Here do we give unto Thee, O Lord, most high praise and hearty thanks for the wonderful grace and virtue declared in the holy Lady Mary and in all Thy glorious Saints from the beginning of the world, who have been the choice vessels of Thy grace and a shining light unto many generations.

And we join with them in worship before Thy great white throne, whence flow all love and light and blessing through all the worlds which Thou hast made.

All these things do we ask, O Father, in the Name and through the mediation of Thy most blessed Son, for we acknowledge and confess with our hearts and lips that   by Him were all things made, yea, all things both in heaven and earth;   with Him as the indwelling Life do all things exist, and   in Him as the transcendent Glory all things live and move and have their being: To whom with Thee, O mighty   Father, in the unity of the Holy   Spirit, be ascribed all honour and glory, throughout the ages of ages.

C. Amen

Alternative Canon

Lord you are holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness.

Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body  and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The day before he suffered he took bread in his sacred hands and looking up to heaven, to you, his almighty Father, he gave you thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said:

Take this, all of you, and eat it:

This is my body which will be given up for you.

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said:

Take this all of you and drink from it:

this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven.

After some moments of silent adoration, the following verse shall be sung very softly, all devoutly kneeling:

C. Thee we adore, O hidden Splendour, Thee,

Who in Thy Sacrament dost deign to be;

We worship Thee beneath this earthly veil,

And here Thy Presence we devoutly hail.

OR

Father of all, we give you thanks for every gift that comes from heaven.

To the darkness Jesus came as your light.

With signs of faith and words of hope

He touched untouchables with love

And washed the guilty clean.

This is his story:

THIS IS OUR SONG; HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST.

The crowds came out to see your Son,

Yet at the end they turned on him.

On the night he was betrayed

He came to table with his friends

To celebrate the freedom of your people.

This is his story:

THIS IS OUR SONG; HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST.

Jesus blessed you, father, for the food;

He took bread, gave you thanks, broke it and said:

This is my body, given for you all.

Jesus then gave thanks for the wine;

He took the cup, gave it and said:

This is my blood, shed for you all

For the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in remembrance of me.

This is our story:

THIS IS OUR SONG; HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST.

Therefore Father, with this bread and this cup

We celebrate the cross

On which he died to us free.

Defying death he rose again

And is alive with you to plead for us and all the world.

This is our story:

THIS IS OUR SONG; HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST.

Send your Spirit on us now

That by these gifts we may feed on Christ

With opened eyes and hearts on fire.

May we and all who share this food

Offer ourselves to live for you

And be welcomed at your feast in heaven

Where all creation worships you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

BLESSING AND HONOUR AND GLORY AND PRAISE BE YOURS FOR EVER AND EVER. AMEN.

OR

And as for us all, partakers of the one Bread and of the Cup, do thou unite to one another unto communion of the one Holy Spirit,and make none of us to partake of the holy Body and Blood of thy Christ unto judgment or unto condemnation, but that we may find mercy and grace with all the Saints who- have ever been well-pleasing unto thee: Forefathers, Foremothers, Fathers, Mothers, Patriarchs, Prophets, Apostles, Preachers, Evangelists, Martyrs, Confessors, Teachers, and with every righteous spirit in faith made perfect,

    Especially our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, glorious Lady, Theotokos and Ever-virgin Mary.

    With the holy Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John, the holy glorious and all-laudable Apostles, Saint(s) Name(s), whose memory we celebrate, and all thy Saints, at whose supplications do thou look upon us, 0 God.

    And remember all those who have fallen asleep heretofore in the hope of resurrection unto life eternal. For the repose and f orgiveness of the soul of thy servant, name, in a place of light whence sorrow and sighing are fled away. Give them rest, O our God,

    And give them rest where the light of thy face watcheth over them.

    Again we pray thee, remember, O Lord, the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, which is from one end of the world to the other, and give peace to Her whom thou hast purchased with the precious Blood of thy Christ, and establish thou this holy house, even unto the consumation of the age. Remember, O Lord, those who have offered unto thee these Gifts, and those for whom, and through whom, and the ends whereunto they are offered. Remember, O Lord, those who bear fruit and do good works in thy holy churches, and who remember the needy; requite them with thy rich and heavenly gifts; give them things heavenly for things earthly, things eternal for things temporal, things incorruptible for things corruptible. Remember, O Lord, those in the deserts, the mountains, and in the caverns and pits of the earth. Remember, O Lord, all those who continue in virginity and devotion, and in asceticism and a sober way of life. Remember, O Lord, the President (or title of the highest civil authority), all civil authorities, and those commissioned to preserve good order; grant them peaceful times, that we also in their tranquility may lead a calm and quiet life in all piety and sobriety. In thy goodness guard those that are good, and make good those that are evil, by thy lovingkindness. Remember, O Lord, the people present, those that for good cause are absent, and have mercy on them and on us, according to the multitude of thy mercies. Fill their garners with every good thing; guard their marriage bond in peace and in oneness of mind; rear the infants; train the young; support the aged; encourage the fainthearted; gather together the scattered, and lead back those who wander astray, and join them to thy Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Free those who are vexed by unclean spirits; travel with those that journey by land, by sea, and by air; protect the widows; defend the orphans; deliver the captives; heal the sick. And those that are under trial, in the mines, in exile, in bitter bondage, in every tribulation, necessity, and danger, do thou remember, O God. And all those that are in need of thy great goodness of heart, and those also who love us, and those who hate us, and those who have commanded us the unworthy to pray for them, do thou remember, O Lord our God, and all thy people, and upon all pour out thy rich mercy, granting to all their petitions which are unto salvation. And those whom we through ignorance or forgetfulness or the multitude of names have not remembered, do thou thyself remember, O God, who knowest the age and name of each, and knowest every person even from their mother's womb. For thou art the Helper of the helpless, the Hope of the hopeless, the Savior of the storm-tossed, the Haven of the voyager, the Physician of the sick. Be thou thyself all things to all people, O thou who knowest every person, their petitions, each house and its need. Deliver, O Lord, this city and every city (or this village, or this abode), and country from famine, pestilence, earthquake, flood, fire, the sword, foreign invasion, and civil war.

   Remember, O Lord, all the leaders of your Church and all churches, whom do thou grant peace, safety, honor, health, and length of days, rightly dividing the word of thy truth.

          Remember, O Lord, the priesthood, the diaconate in Christ, and every priestly rank, and put not to confusion any one of us that stand about thy holy Altar. Look upon us with thy loving-kindness, 0 Lord; reveal thyself unto us in thy rich compassions; grant us temperate and prosperous seasons; give peaceful showers upon the earth unto fruitfulness; bless the crown of the year in thy loving-kindness; make schisms in the Church to cease; quench the ragings of the nations; speedily destroy, by the power of thy Holy Spirit, uprisings of heresies; receive us all into thy kingdom, showing us to be children of the light and of the day; and grant unto us thy peace and thy love, 0 Lord our God, for all things hast thou bestowed upon us. And grant us with one mouth and one heart to glorify and hymn thine all-honorable and magnificent name, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen

OR

In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.

Lord, remember your Church throughout the world; make us grow in love, together with all the leaders of your church, and all the clergy.

Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence. Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the virgin Mother of God, with the apostles, and with all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with them, and give you glory through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever.

C. Amen

Communion

O God and Father of our Lord and God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Lord whose name is exalted, the blessed nature, the unstinted goodness, the God and Master of all things, the One who Exists, blessed to the ages of ages, enthroned upon the Cherubim, glorified by the Seraphim, before whom stand thousands and thousands, and tens of thousands of armies Angels and Archangels, accept as sweet fragrance the gifts, offerings and fruits here presented to you, by the grace of your Christ and the visitation of your all-holy Spirit. Sanctify also, Master, our souls and bodies and spirits. Touch our minds and search out our consciences. Cast out from us every evil thought, every impure idea, every base desire and memory, every unseemly word, all envy, pride and hypocrisy, every lie, every deceit, every worldly temptation, all greed, all vainglory, all wickedness, all wrath, all anger, all malice, all blasphemy, and all sloth, every movement of flesh and spirit that is alien to the will of your holiness.

And count us worthy, Master, Lord who love humankind, with boldness and without condemnation, with a pure heart, enlightened soul, face unashamed, lips that are sanctified to dare to call upon you, the holy God in heaven, as Father, and to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. AMEN.

OR

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Agnus Dei

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,  have mercy on us

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,  have mercy on us

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,  give us peace

O Thou who in this adorable Sacrament hast left us a living memorial and pledge of Thy marvellous love for mankind, and dost therein graciously draw us into wondrous and mystic communion with Thee, grant us so to receive the sacred mysteries of Thy Body and Blood that our souls may be lifted into the immensity of Thy love, and that, being filled with a high endeavour, we may ever be mindful of Thine indwelling Presence and breathe forth the fragrance of a holy life.

Amen

OR

  I believe, O Lord, and I confess, that thou art truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who didst come into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first. And I believe that this is thine own immaculate Body, and that this is thine own precious Blood. Wherefore, I pray thee, have mercy on me, and pardon my trespasses, voluntary and involuntary, in word, or in deed, in knowledge and in ignorance, and make me worthy without condemnation to partake of thine immaculate mysteries unto forgiveness of sins and unto life eternal.

For how shall I, who am unworthy, enter into the splendor of thine saints? If I dare to enter into the bridal chamber, my clothing will accuse me, since it is not a wedding garment; and being bound up, I shall be cast out by the angels. In thy love, Lord, cleanse my soul and save me and to  thy mystic supper, O Son of God, accept me today as a communicant, for I will not speak of thy mystery to thine enemies, neither will I give thee a kiss as did Judas, but like the thief will I confess thee; remember me, O Lord, in thy kingdom.

O Lord, I am not worthy to receive thee, but only say the word and I shall be healed.

OR:

WE do not presume to come to this thy Table, 0 merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

NOW PLEASE RECEIVE THE HOST

Under the veil of earthly things now have we communion with our Lord Jesus Christ; soon with open face shall we behold Him, and, rejoicing in His glory, be made like unto Him. Then shall His true disciples be brought by Him with exceeding joy before the presence of His Father's glory.

Communio

Let our mouths be filled with Your praise, Lord, that we may sing of Your glory. You have made us worthy to partake of Your holy mysteries. Keep us in Your holiness, that all the day long we may meditate upon Your righteousness. Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.

OR

We know and believe in God's love for us.

Postcommunio

We thank You, loving Master, benefactor of our souls, that on this day You have made us worthy once again of Your heavenly and immortal Mysteries. Direct our ways in the right path, establish us firmly in Your fear, guard our lives, and make our endeavors safe, for You are our sanctification and to You we give glory, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages

OR

We believe, O Lord, that in this breaking of your body and pouring out of your blood we become redeemed people. We confess that by our sharing of this sacrament we are strengthened to endure in hope until we lay hold and enjoy its fruits in the heavenly places. AMEN

OR

We give thanks unto thee, 0 Lord our God for the participation in thy holy, immaculate, immortal and heavenly Mysteries, which thou hast given unto us for the benefit and sanctification and healing of our souls and bodies. Do thou thyself, 0 Master of all, grant that the communion of the holy Body and Blood of thy Christ may be for us unto faith unashamed, unto love without hypocrisy, unto fullness of wisdom, unto the healing of soul and body, unto the averting of every adversary, unto the accomplishment of thy commandments, unto an acceptable defense at the fearful judgment seat of Christ.

OR

Almighty God, we thank you for feeding us

With the body and blood of your Son Jesus Christ.

Send us our in the power of your Spirit to live and work

To your praise and glory,

Through Christ our Lord. AMEN

OR

Father of all, we give you thanks and praise,

That when we were still far off you met us in your

Son and brought us home.

Dying and living he declared your love, gave us grace

And opened the gate of glory.

May we who share Christ’s body live his risen life.

We who drink his blood bring life to others,

We whom the Spirit lights give light to the world.

Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us so that we and all your children shall be free and the whole earth live to praise your name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Benediction

May Almighty God  the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost bless you.

OR

I bless you, in the name of   the Father, the Son, and the Sacred Spirit, the One and the Three. May God give you drink of his cup, the sun shine bright upon you, may the night call down peace and when you come into his household may the door be open wide for you to go in to your joy.
C. Amen

The Last Gospel

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was made nothing that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men; and the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the light, that all might believe through Him. He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light. That was the true light, which enlighteneth every one that cometh into this world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received him not. But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to be made the children of God, to them that believe in His name, who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of humanity, but of God. And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, as it were the glory of the only - begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

C. Thanks be to God.

LORD, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace : according to thy word.

For mine eyes have seen : thy salvation,

Which thou hast prepared : before the face of all people;

To be a light to lighten the Gentiles : and to be the glory of thy people Israel.  Glory be to the Father,

LORD HAVE MERCY ( 12 TIMES)
